CLIENTS

My clients like to take a little risk in most aspects of their lives and they're not afraid to go after what they want.  They are not reckless and they are not stubborn, but following the herd has never really been their style.  Whether in business or in their personal life, their approach has been called "unique" and they've been told that they do things differently.  A traditional house either does not properly express who they are as individuals or it is simply not conducive to how they live their lives.

GENERAL PHILOSOPHY

My style and building philosophy isn't for everyone -- and that's okay!

Some of my homes may have similar elements but no two are alike.  The reason for this is simple:  none of my clients are alike.  Some want the newest appliances but don't care much for closet space or outside finishes.  To others, their walk-in closet is their morning sanctuary and the most important part of the house.

As a general rule, I believe that everything you touch multiple times per day should be as high of a quality item as you can afford.

APPROACH TO BUILDING

I firmly believe that a home should adapt to its owner's lifetsyle, not the other way around.  I strive to design a house so that you feel good while you are living in it, from the time you wake up to the time you fall asleep.  My role is to be your consultant, someone who will tell you what others like you are doing, why you may or may not want to follow the latest trends, and how much making installing certain features will cost you now and in the long run.  I have opinions, and I feel that it is my duty to inform you of what I think, but I also know when to remove myself from the decision-making process.

HOW MUCH OF A TIME COMMITMENT DO YOU ASK YOUR CLIENTS
TO ALLOCATE TO THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

As much as they want. You are more than welcome to come shopping with me and pick out all your appliances, fixtures, and the exact color of the floors and the walls. Or, you may give me general guidelines and I will find what you are looking for.

SUBCONTRACTORS

The guys I work with are very much a team.  Some have worked together for more than fifteen years and they know how not to get in each other's way.  On each project, I also accept a few bids from new subcontractors whose quality of work meets my standards.  Most importantly, I have perfected a sequencing system that shortens total construction time by up to 20%.  This is an important source of savings, because it translates to lower financing costs.

When your home is finished you will receive contact information for all the relevant subcontractors so that you may contact them about any future maintenance.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU WISH YOUR CLIENTS KNEW:

You don't have to spend more to build a custom home and get what you want.  When you buy an existing home you are either overpaying for some features the previous owners installed that you do not really care for or you are forced you to work around certain design elements you would rather do without. Building a custom home eliminates this friction.

PRICE RANGE

$500,000 to $4,000,000+

NEIGHBORHOODS

I have built homes in many neighborhoods in Charlotte and the surrounding area, including Firethorne, Seven Eagles, Stratford on Providence, Providence Park, and Stilwell Place.

AVAILABLE LOTS

I constantly monitor the local market to locate the most attractively priced lots in desired locations. Currently, I have land in Lake Lure and Sardis Hills available to start construction.

FIRM SIZE

One.  Just me.

I strive to eliminate the unnecessary aspects of the homebuilding process. After 35 years in the construction business, I have finally settled on working by myself and contracting out all other services as necessary. This business model creates maximum leverage of my time for my clients.

I pick a few projects per year and focus my energy on these projects. If I do not answer your call it is because I am either in a meeting or my phone has no signal.
